Introducing Magnetic

We are delighted to share our new agency name—Magnetic Communications.

Six years ago, Claire Piech started Piech Communications to bring best practices in communications to organizations, start-ups and researchers who are advancing the latest science.

Today, our boutique agency has evolved from a company of one to a robust team of strategists, writers, graphic designers and other creatives.

We need a name that is not one person’s last name. And we also need a name that encapsulates the value high-quality communications brings to innovative science.

Why Magnetic?

We are in the business of words—we take choosing a name seriously.

We searched through dictionaries and scientific literature to find the right match. We wanted something that connected with science, sparked curiosity and carried energy. After several months, we came across the word “magnetic”. It just fit.

We love how magnets exert invisible forces that can change the motion of charged particles. This parallels what strategic communications can do for innovative science. Well-executed communications attracts investors, media attention, partnerships and customers. It grows networks and audiences to accelerate research as it moves from the bench into the world.

So we took the Magnetic name and supercharged it with a visual identity. We gave our process the same focus we would give a client if we were rolling out a branding strategy for them. Then we put together a launch plan to share the news with the world. (In fact, one of the first tactics in our plan is this newsletter.)

New brand, same focus

Our brand may be different, but everything else about us is the same.

We are still passionate about science and its impact on the world—from developing therapies for diseases that today have no treatments, to bringing better healthcare to patients, to finding solutions to climate change. We love applying our skillsets to give breakthrough innovations the momentum they need to move forward. And we are excited to provide each of our clients with bespoke services to fit their precise needs.
